Seat belts arrived

The s14 seat belts came in sooner than I expected.  They were waiting on my doorstep when I came back from work last night.  Thought I'd test fit them today since I had about an hour before work.  Everything seems pretty good.

It's only hand tightened now.  I'll actually mount them after I'm done with the interior.

Quick update

Here are the pictures of the auto seat belt removal.  I actually did take pictures, just forgot to upload them.

Also, I spoke to the seller on the s14 seat belts.  They were shipped on Thursday so I should be getting them sometime next week.

Test fit

Time to test fit the bumpers I got from the pick n pull.  First I removed the ED type U front bumper from the car.  I swapped the mounting hardware over cuz the one that I got from the 92 bumper were a bit rusted and had broken studs.  But it fits really nice.

But look what I forgot to get.... the front bumper extenders.  oh well... Not a problem.  Eventually, I'll probably get a Type X front bumper with lip or convert to Silvia front end.  We'll see.

For the rear bumper, I got the complete bumper including the bumper support.  The bumper support I had was a bit rusted on the bottom left side and was missing the retaining clip to mount the bumper cover.  I also only had half the harness for the license plate lights.

I had some extra time left today but not enough time to clean and sand the interior.  So I removed the automatic seat belt assembly.  I bought a set of s14 manual seat belts from a member on NICO.  He should be shipping them out soon.  Forgot to take pictures of this, but I'll post them up later.

Since I'm trying to make this build as least expensive as possible, I need to make some money back with my old parts.... lol.  I put up for sale my ED type U bumpers and rear bumper support on ZilviaNICO, and Craigslist.

Pick n Pull

Sorry no pictures today.  I was feeling really lazy so I had a late start.  Decided to check out the local pick n pull lot, they had 3 240s there: 2 90s and a 92.  I found almost everything I needed from the 92: front and rear bumpers, center console, map light, and both door sils.  They were all in pretty good shape.  I was trying to get the carpet out too, but the pick n pull lot was closing soon so I'll get it another time or find someone parting out their 240sx.

Strip n Scrape 2

Today was somewhat of a short day.  After lots of grinding and scrubbing with lacquer thinner, I got all the goo off the rear seat area and rear wheel well area.

Strip n Scrape

Time to continue stripping the interior.  Got some dry ice from a Baskin Robbins, and started to strip the sound deadening.

Half a bucket from just the rear seat area and trunk.

Used a wire brush bit and a drill to get all the tar and goo from the sound deadening.  Also with the help of lacquer thinner.  Grinded away as much rust as I could, and tried to get it ready to be repaired.

I'll get the rest another day...

Time to tear things apart

After a few days of the car sitting in the driveway, I finally got a day off work so I can tinker with my new toy.  But first, I needed to clean the garage so I have a place to work on it.

I decided to start with the interior.  Not sure what I want to do with it yet, but I think I'll keep it stripped and just get a nice paint job.  I didn't wanna do a half ass paint job on the inside, so time to strip everything that will get in the way.

I removed the rear bumper... don't like big flashy body kits.  Removed the tail lights, garnishes, etc.

Removed the rear wiring harness.  Oh wait.... look what I found.  There was another repair done on the passenger side floor.  But they didn't reattach the mount for the passenger seat.  I guess I'll have to fix this somehow, but we'll deal with that later.
